Sculpture, shaped by material

I work primarily with raw mineral and metallic substrates, developing form through reduction and casting. The material sets the terms, and each piece is shaped by what it can hold.

My studio investigations prioritize proportion, physical equilibrium, and unadorned material honesty. I am interested in permanence, and in how a stone or metal surface records the hand that worked it.

Fabrication, carving, and space

Pieces are developed through reduction and casting, working from a rough mass toward a resolved form. Carving removes material until proportion settles, and casting allows a shape to be tested before it is committed to its final substrate.

Spatial considerations shape each work from the start. Some pieces are self-contained objects; others are site-responsive installations, developed around the room, the light, and the distance from which a viewer first encounters them.

On form

The relationship between volume and void is where the work begins.
